Recommended block, Funkwhale.it
It came to our attention recently that the account @\email@example.com was spreading misinformation about the project, and our funding in particular. They've also published hostile posts concerning some members of our collective.
This happens after we reached out to them multiple times in february to ask them to respect the guidelines we put in place for reusing our assets (https://funkwhale.audio/en_US/logos), and after they setup multiple social media pages by simply copy-pasting content from our website, which could be seen as a way to impersonate us, or at least to create confusion.
As a result, we have decided to block them, as well as the Funkwhale pod funkwhale.it they manage, from all our spaces and the pods we host.
Funkwhale.it is not affiliated with our project or collective, in any way.
0.21 Preview: Moderation Features https://blog.funkwhale.audio/~/Announcements/0.21-preview-moderation-features/
Funkwhale, dev, podcasts, current status
I'm going to take this opportunity to do a quick status update on this feature. You can see my up-to-date checklist at https://pad.funkwhale.audio/podcasts-channels-task-force?view#Technical-implementation--roadmap and the meta ticket with all related merge requests at https://dev.funkwhale.audio/funkwhale/funkwhale/-/issues/170.
Almost all the remaining work is UI polishing and tweaking/testing federation. The only exceptions are :
- OPML import/export, but I don't think I'll be able to tackle this before release, so it will be postponed
- Redesign of the Album/Serie page, which is rather outdated and not well-adapted for non musical content.
- Implement a page to list recent publications of channels you're subscribing to
But in their current state, I consider channels are usable and stable enough to be used, both for publication and subscription.
So, we're almost there!
Funkwhale, dev, podcasts, moderation
Pfiou, another important step completed today. I've been mostly focused on user-level features, but since channels / podcasts potentially introduce new ways for abuse, it's important to take this into account before the actual release.
In particular, it's important that:
- users can report channels (and that these reports federate, when applicable)
- admins/mods can browse channels, delete them or specific bits of content
- admins/mods can act upon reported channels
All of this is implemented at https://dev.funkwhale.audio/funkwhale/funkwhale/-/merge_requests/1072 and will ship with the april release.
Je vois passer le toot de @lucie et du coup c'est l'occasion parfaite de faire ça :

Funkwhale, dev, podcasts, federation
Another milestone today: #funkwhale channels can now successfully federate with other Funkwhale pods
Here again, sounds like an obvious feature, but up until now, my efforts were focused on federation with other platforms like Mastodon or Friendica.
While federation with other non-Funkwhale software is pretty basic (typically, the Audio activity is converted to a Note with a link to the Funkwhale page), federation with other Funkwhale pods is much deeper!
More information is federated, like the track duration, size, bitrate, the album/podcast serie if any, the track license, etc.
Also, it's not limited to Funkwhale but this merge request also ensure deletion of tracks, albums and channels is broadcasted over the federation, and handled properly when received by Funkwhale.
You can expect this to work when their 2019-03 release is out!
